Gamlingay Gym

24th September 2021

The Cam Academy Trust is committed to helping to secure a future for Gamlingay Gym despite having to close it.

After considerable consultation, The Trust, which oversees Gamlingay Village Primary (or GVP depending on where it’s used) where the gym is located, concluded it is unable to keep it going as a viable concern and has closed the doors.

It is now working with South Cambridgeshire District Council and local interested parties to see if the gym could be taken over and run by a community group and work is continuing to explore this option. However, any such group would need to be officially formed and registered with the Charity Commission before it could be considered as a potential operator.

The 104 Gym members have been informed of the closure and any advance payment of fees is being refunded.

The multi-use games area at GVP remains open for the community to book by contacting the school office.

Both The Trust and SCDC want to find a way for a community gym to operate from GVP in future and are liaising with the emerging group to see if this is a realistic possibility. We will keep you posted on any developments.
