Curriculum & Classes

All the classes at Gamlingay Village Primary are named after birds to celebrate our proximity to the RSPB headquarters at nearby Sandy.

Due to the class structure of the school our curriculum is organised as a two-year cycle. Please find information regarding which topics are taught each year in the download in the panel on the side of this page.

Home Learning 

Our school believes that it is important to have a strong parent partnership and one of the ways we can foster this is through home leanring. Our Home Learning expectations are as follows:

		Spellings 6 weekly	15 minutes + memorising
		Number Facts	Minimum 15 minutes (weekly)
Lower key stage 2	Year 3/4	Daily Reading	Minimum 10 minutes
		Spelling 8-10 weekly	20 minutes + memorising
		Times Tables	Minimum 15 minutes (weekly)
Upper key stage 2	Year 5/6	Daily Reading	Minimum 15 minutes
		Spelling 10-12 weekly	25 minutes + memorising
		Year 5: Times Tables, Fractions, Arithmetic	Minimum 45 minutes (weekly)
		Year 6: SATs Busters: Arithmetic, GPS, Maths	Minimum (1 hour weekly)
