Design & Technology

At GVP we intend for our children to be confident and capable in using the full D and T cycle of ResearchDesignMake and Evaluate, using sustainably sourced materials. The projects, which have been organised into five main strands; Woodwork, Prototyping, Sewing, Mechanisms and Cookery, aim to care for, serve and enhance the local community and environment.

We believe these projects can enable children to learn and hone practical skills; such as sewing on a button, baking bread and constructing bird boxes, that will be applied in secondary school and benefit them for the rest of their lives. As the children progress through the school, these skills will be refined and further developed year upon year, to ensure children are consistently applying previous learning as they forge new skills and projects to benefit not only themselves, but the wider community.
